Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has announced plans to recruit 12,000 young people into the state civil service by December 2025. The initiative aims to boost employment and forms part of his administration's broader commitment to job creation.
Speaking while addressing the Women's Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), who paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Chambers, Government House Yola, Governor Fintiri stated that 5,000 of the new positions would be for teachers, with an additional 2,000 healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, joining the Health Services Management Board. These figures are in addition to 5,000 civil service roles currently being filled.
He explained that during the ongoing recruitment of 4,000 civil servants, after receiving reports of more vacancies, he ordered the recruitment of an additional 1,000, bringing the total now to 5,000.
The Governor also mentioned plans for a new School of Technology and Entrepreneurship to equip young people with practical skills. He highlighted his administration's progress, attributing it to "prudent leadership" and claiming Adamawa has become one of Nigeria's top five states for development.
Addressing recent fatal flooding, Governor Fintiri pledged to remove illegal structures obstructing waterways to prevent future disasters. He clarified that the Dam in Fufore was not the immediate cause of the recent flooding.
He further underscored his government's commitment to revitalising education, noting improved school standards and student performance.
Governor Fintiri urged Christian women leaders to continue their support through prayers, reiterating his commitment to fairness, equity, and security.
Mrs Helen James, WOWICAN State Chairperson, commended the Governor's development efforts and pledged the association's continued support.
She said that the purpose of the visit was to thank the Governor for the remarkable development and inclusive governance he had brought to the state, with women occupying sensitive positions in his administration.
