The Adamawa State Executive Council approved a series of contracts and payments totalling approximately ₦5.44 billion during its 20th meeting on Wednesday, 22 October 2025.
The meeting, held at the new Council Chambers in Government House, Yola, was presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Briefing journalists afterwards, the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Hon. James Iliya, confirmed the approvals, which cover infrastructure, technology, and security projects.
A contract worth ₦926 million was approved for the implementation of Phase I of the Adamawa State Digital Academy Project. Mr Iliya stated this is part of the government's digital transformation agenda and is expected to be completed within four months.
Significant funds were allocated for the renovation and construction of government buildings. This includes ₦837 million for remodelling the Civil Service Commission complex and ₦794.7 million for the renovation of the state’s Liaison Office in Maitama, Abuja.
Additionally, ₦657.4 million was approved for additional works on the State House of Assembly office extension, and ₦279.1 million for the renovation of the Presidential Lodge in Yola.
The council also approved two separate sets of contracts for construction works at the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), totalling ₦461.4million and ₦905.2 million respectively.
In other approvals:
The council ratified an administrative payment of ₦396 million for 12,000 bags of NPK fertilizer, acquired at a subsidised rate from the Office of the National Security Advisor.
A sum of ₦182 million was approved for the construction of height restriction barriers and signage for four flyovers within the state capital.
The commissioner also announced that the state broadcaster, Adamawa Television Authority (ATV), has been digitalised and is now available via free-to-air channels across West Africa.
