The incident took place on Friday night in a town called Konduga about 40km to Maiduguri the state capital of Borno. The woman, who people think was working for the harmful group, Boko Haram, apparently blew herself up near a place where the local fighters often met.
Mr. Tijjani Ahmed, who leads one of the local fighter groups, explained that 20 of his members lost their lives.
“We lost 20 people in the suicide attack which happened yesterday around 9:15 p.m. (2015 GMT) while our members were hanging out near the fish market,” said Tijjani Ahmed, the head of an anti-jihadist militia in Konduga district".
" Many others were hurt, with some sadly dying later in hospital".
Konduga is a town in Borno state, which is in the northeast of Nigeria. This area has unfortunately seen many attacks like this before, often blamed on Boko Haram. This group has been causing trouble for about 16 years, and their actions have led to the deaths of thousands of people and forced many more to leave their homes.
Even though Konduga had been peaceful for a while, this latest attack is a sad reminder of the ongoing difficulties faced by people in the region.
Police have confirmed that many people died, and they are still trying to get all the details.
A member of the local fighters, Ibrahim Liman, said that the woman who caused the explosion looked like an ordinary person going to the busy fish market. But as soon as she reached the fighters' meeting spot, she set off the bomb.
The problems in Nigeria have even spread to nearby countries. Because of this, several countries in the region have joined forces to fight against these dangerous groups and bring peace back to the area.
