Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was the focus of intense praise and financial support from fellow state leaders during a major cultural event hosted by the Margi Worldwide organisation on Saturday. The gathering, which brought together high-profile politicians, religious figures, and traditional royalty, served as both a celebration of Margi heritage and a platform for championing Governor Fintiri's time in office.
The most significant moment of the reception came when visiting State Governors publicly announced a collective, multi-million Naira contribution to the Margi Family Worldwide group. Each visiting chief executive pledged ₦50 million, demonstrating substantial financial backing for the organisation and an overwhelming show of support for Fintiri's leadership. They hailed him as a "hero" and a "historic figure" for his achievements in Adamawa State.
Addressing his kinsmen, Governor Fintiri was clear about his cultural identity, stating his deep pride in his Margi roots. He declared that being Margi was fundamental to who he is, crediting the community with giving him the "platform and the wings to fly and excel" in public life.
Beyond the cultural fanfare, Fintiri outlined the practical progress made under his watch:
Security: He claimed his first priority—restoring peace—has made Adamawa "one of the most peaceful states in the North-East" by using a combination of strengthened security measures and a focus on justice.
Infrastructure: Extensive work has been done to rebuild roads and improve facilities in both towns and rural areas.
Education: He highlighted the popular policy of free and compulsory education, including covering exam fees (WAEC and NECO), and the construction of new Model Schools.
Welfare: Improvements included renovating health centres, hiring more staff, and setting up an Ultra-Modern Laboratory at the Specialist Hospital for free diagnostics and services like dialysis.
Cultural Unity and Endorsements
The cultural significance of the day was cemented by the unveiling of a new Margi national attire, which Fintiri stated symbolised the core values of honesty, hard work, and respect.
The event was attended by influential figures, including former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and former Governor Bala James Ngillari. Traditional leaders from six North-Eastern states and beyond were also present, underscoring the Margi identity's wide regional influence and the unity on display. Governor Fintiri promised that his administration would continue to work hard for all groups in the state, assuring attendees, "We are only re-tying our laces."
