The Adamawa State Governor, the Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has disclosed that his administration will build a brand new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in the State.
The Governor said that when the construction of the Camp is completed, it will supersede any camp in the country with modern facilities.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri disclosed this on Tuesday while receiving NYSC Corps Members posted to Adamawa State and their officials on a thank you visit at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Yola.
Governor Fintiri described the event as "incredible". He encouraged the corps members to feel free to move around the entire state, as his administration will continue to double its effort to feed and provide necessary incentives to the corps members.
He assured the corps members posted to Adamawa State of his administration's continued commitment to taking care of their welfare and ensuring they are well fed while in the camp.
On their monthly allowance, which he increased by one hundred percent, he informed the corps members that when the Federal Government reviews its policy on the NYSC serving Corps Members' allowance, his government will not hesitate to make an upward review of the monthly allowance the state is paying to Corps members in Adamawa.
In her opening remarks, the NYSC Adamawa State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, said they had come to show their appreciation for the welfare provided by Governor Fintiri's administration to the corps members serving in the state.
She reiterated that the visit is a testament to the unwavering support the Governor is according Corps Members in the state.
The State Coordinator noted the socio-economic programme of the government, which has improved the living standard of the corps members.
She lauded Governor Fintiri for donating an ambulance, constructing the road that leads to the NYSC Camp ground at Damare, as well as construction of a pavilion at the camp site, the increment in the allowance of the Corps Members, and consistent support to the Corps Members, especially during orientation camp.
She acknowledged the robust security arrangement of Governor Fintiri to secure Corps members posted to the various LGAs in the state.
Mrs. Chinedu said the Corps Members posted in Adamawa State represent the best of Nigeria's youth, who are resilient and dedicated to the growth of the country.
She assured that the Corps Members will redouble their effort for the growth and development of the state and nation at large.
In their various presentations, the Corps Members serving in Adamawa State praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and thanked him for the welfare packages he provided them during their three-week orientation at camp and their monthly allowance, saying the state allowance has superseded all other states' allowances.
Highlights of the visit included slide projection of Corps members engaging with their host communities, spoken words by Corps members, comedy, and encomiums.
