Two brothers from Kila village, Toungo LGA, Adamawa State, have been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command on suspicion of murder.
Adamu Alhaji Bamu (35) and Manu Alhaji Bamu (32) are accused of killing a man named Umaru.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, revealed the brothers confessed to the crime. They claimed Umaru was a practitioner of the dark arts and responsible for the deaths of Adamu's two children through witchcraft.
Adamu reportedly alleged Umaru wasn't a natural witch but had turned to sorcery after losing all his cattle.
He recounted a past conversation where Umaru spoke of acquiring witchcraft to kill his own father and steal his cattle. Adamu claimed that failing in his attempt on his father, Umaru then directed his witchcraft at Adamu's children, Hurera and Mumuni, causing their deaths.
Believing Umaru to be responsible for the tragedies, Adamu expressed no remorse. He admitted to attacking Umaru with a machete four times, with his brothers assisting with sticks, which ultimately led to Umaru's demise.
